FAQ

USDA Certified Organic Snack Bars

Are The Forward Bars USDA Certified Organic?

Yes. The Forward Bar is USDA Certified Organic — the finished bar, not just “made with organic ingredients.” That means every bar meets the USDA National Organic Program standard: grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilizers, no GMOs, and no synthetic additives, verified by a third-party certifier.

What does “organic” actually mean for a protein bar?

It’s about how the food is grown and made, not marketing. USDA Certified Organic requires ingredients farmed without synthetic pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers, with no GMOs and no irradiation — and prohibits artificial colors, flavors, and preservatives. Many bars say “organic ingredients” without being certified; ours carries the full certification on the finished product.

Are organic protein bars healthier than non-organic ones?

“Organic” tells you how the ingredients were grown, without synthetic pesticides or GMOs, not automatically that a bar is more nutritious. The real difference shows up when organic is paired with a whole-food formula: The Forward Bar is both certified organic and built from real seeds, almonds, and dates, with no protein powder, no seed oils, and no sugar alcohols. That combination is what sets it apart from a conventional bar — or an “organic” bar that’s still built on isolates.

Which ingredients are organic?

All seven whole-food base ingredients (pumpkin seeds, hemp seeds, dates, almonds, raw honey, flax, and psyllium husk) PLUS the real flavor ingredients in each bar. There’s no protein isolate, no synthetic vitamin premix, and no “natural flavors” anywhere in the recipe.

Is the protein organic too and where does it come from?

Yes. The 12g of complete protein comes from the pumpkin seeds, hemp seeds, and almonds, not from a protein powder or isolate. Hemp alone provides all nine essential amino acids, so you get complete, certified-organic protein straight from whole food.

Are the bars non-GMO and gluten-free as well?

Yes. USDA Organic certification prohibits GMOs, so the bars are non-GMO by definition. They’re also made from naturally gluten-free, dairy-free, and soy-free whole-food ingredients. Note they contain almonds and raw honey, so they’re vegetarian, not vegan.

Why do organic protein bars cost a little more?

Organic farming and certification cost more than conventional — and building protein from whole organic seeds and almonds costs more than a scoop of protein powder. You’re paying for certified-organic whole food rather than cheaper processed ingredients, which is the whole point of the bar.
